Advanced HIFU Skin Tightening

A high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) device that lifts, tightens and contours the face and body without surgery. Targets deep foundational skin layers to stimulate long-term collagen remodelling and structural lift. Performed by MOH-licensed doctors at our Orchard and Tampines clinics.

Why micro-pulsed HIFU.

A high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) device that delivers energy to precise depths — the superficial dermis, deep dermis and the deeper SMAS layer — creating controlled thermal coagulation points that trigger a prolonged collagen remodelling response, so skin lifts and tightens progressively.

Conventional HIFU fires fixed high-energy pulses. Micro-pulsed technology delivers many rapid, lower-energy pulses for the same thermal effect with better comfort and more even coverage. Swappable cartridges (typically 1.5mm, 3mm and 4.5mm) let the doctor treat every relevant tissue plane in one session.

What to expect in a session.

Numbing cream or oral pain relief may be offered first. The transducer is passed systematically across the area, delivering energy to each depth in turn — most people feel a warm, prickling or buzzing sensation. A full face takes 45–90 minutes.

Mild redness or swelling can follow and typically settles within hours to a day. Collagen remodelling then continues over the following months.

Advanced HIFU Skin Tightening FAQ

What is Advanced HIFU Skin Tightening?

Advanced HIFU uses high-intensity focused ultrasound to deliver precise thermal energy to multiple tissue depths — typically 1.5mm (superficial dermis), 3mm (deep dermis) and 4.5mm (the SMAS, or superficial muscular aponeurotic system). Creating thermal coagulation points at the SMAS layer — the same structural plane addressed during a surgical facelift — triggers a prolonged collagen remodelling and tissue contraction response. The micro-pulsed technology used here delivers multiple lower-energy pulses per treatment point for improved comfort and more consistent energy distribution compared with conventional single-pulse HIFU devices.

What concerns can it help with?

HIFU is best suited for mild to moderate facial sagging — jowling, a softened jawline, brow drooping and submental (under-chin) laxity — where there is meaningful skin laxity but not significant excess skin. It can also address body skin laxity on the abdomen, inner arms and inner thighs. It is not a substitute for surgical lifting in cases of advanced laxity or significant tissue excess, and it does not restore volume. Your doctor will give an honest assessment of whether your degree of laxity is likely to respond meaningfully to HIFU during consultation.

How many sessions are usually recommended?

Some patients see improvement after one session, but depending on skin condition and goals, doctors may recommend repeat sessions every 6–12 months for maintenance.

How long do the results last?

Results vary by age, skin quality, and lifestyle. Improvements develop gradually over 2–3 months as collagen is stimulated, lasting several months to a year, with maintenance sessions potentially advised.

Is there downtime after treatment?

Downtime is minimal. Patients may experience temporary redness, mild swelling, or slight sensitivity that usually resolves within hours to days, allowing normal activities to resume soon after.

Who is suitable for this treatment?

It may suit adults with mild to moderate skin laxity seeking non-surgical tightening, but may not be recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding individuals or those with open wounds or certain medical conditions.
