What HA filler does.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) — a substance naturally found in skin — physically adds volume beneath the surface. Placed precisely, it softens nasolabial folds and marionette lines, defines the lip border, refines cheek and mid-face contour, and restores the gentle fullness that balances the face.

The filler also integrates with surrounding tissue and draws in water, so treated areas look and feel natural. Results are visible immediately and can be adjusted or dissolved by your doctor if needed.

What to expect in a session.

After numbing cream, the filler is injected with a fine needle or blunt-tipped cannula depending on the area; the procedure takes 20–45 minutes with only mild discomfort.

Mild swelling or bruising at injection points usually settles within 24–48 hours, and the result refines over one to two weeks.

Facial Filler Treatment FAQ

How long do facial fillers last?

Hyaluronic acid facial fillers typically last between six months and eighteen months, depending on the filler type, the area treated and individual metabolic factors. Higher-movement areas such as the lips tend to metabolise filler faster than less mobile areas. Your doctor will advise on expected longevity based on your specific treatment plan.

Are facial fillers reversible?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This is a key safety advantage of HA-based fillers — if you are unhappy with the result or experience any complication, the filler can be removed. Permanent fillers cannot be reversed.

Is the treatment painful?

Most patients experience only mild discomfort. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to reduce sensitivity at the injection sites. The filler also typically contains lidocaine (a local anaesthetic) which provides additional comfort during injection. Some areas — particularly the lips — are more sensitive than others.

Is there downtime after a facial filler treatment?

Downtime is minimal. Mild swelling and occasional bruising at injection points are the most common effects and typically resolve within 24 to 48 hours. You can return to normal activities immediately. We advise avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol and excessive heat for 24 to 48 hours after treatment.

What is the difference between a facial filler and a volumising filler?

Facial fillers vary in their physical properties — thickness, cohesivity and stiffness. A versatile facial filler is suited to most areas including lips, nasolabial folds and perioral lines. A dedicated volumising filler has a higher stiffness (G' prime) and is used specifically for deep volume restoration in the mid-face and cheeks. Your doctor selects the appropriate product and depth for each area.
