About Sculptra

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that stimulates collagen production to restore facial volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It’s made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that encourages the body to produce its own collagen, leading to gradual and natural-looking results. Sculptra is not a hyaluronic acid filler and does not provide immediate volume replacement.

How it Works

Sculptra’s PLLA microparticles work within the skin to activate collagen production, gradually restoring facial volume and improving skin elasticity.

Unlike immediate fillers, Sculptra’s effects appear over several months as collagen production increases, leading to a more natural and youthful appearance.

Sculptra’s results can last for up to two years.

Common Uses of Sculptra

  • Deep folds and wrinkles Sculptra can improve the appearance of nasolabial folds ("smile lines"), marionette lines, and chin wrinkles.
  • Cheek and temple hollowing It can restore volume to sunken cheeks and temples, providing a more youthful contour.
  • Overall facial rejuvenation By boosting collagen production, Sculptra can improve skin texture, tone, and tightness.

Quick answers to questions you may have

Sculptra is an injectable treatment that contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that has been used in medical applications for many years. Instead of acting as a filler that provides immediate volume, Sculptra works gradually to stimulate your body’s own collagen production, helping to improve skin structure and firmness over time. Treatments are performed only by qualified medical professionals in Singapore.

Sculptra may be considered for individuals who are looking to address:

  • Loss of skin volume due to ageing
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin laxity and reduced firmness
  • Gradual facial contour changes

Our doctors will assess if Sculptra is suitable for your needs and recommend a personalised treatment plan.

Most patients require two to three treatment sessions, spaced about four to six weeks apart. The exact number of sessions depends on your skin condition, degree of volume loss, and treatment goals. Our doctors will advise you accordingly
Sculptra works gradually by stimulating collagen, so results are not immediate. Improvements usually become noticeable within a few months and may last up to two years with a full treatment plan. Maintenance sessions may be recommended.
As with any injectable, you may experience temporary side effects such as mild swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness at the injection sites. These typically subside within a few days. Most patients are able to resume normal daily activities soon after treatment.

When administered by trained medical professionals, Sculptra is generally considered safe. Potential side effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness, and the formation of small lumps under the skin. Our doctors will discuss these risks during consultation and advise if Sculptra is appropriate for you.

Sculptra may be suitable for adults with age-related volume loss or reduced skin elasticity. It may not be recommended for individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have certain medical conditions, or have a history of keloid scarring. A medical consultation is necessary before treatment.

Unlike fillers, which provide immediate volume, Sculptra works gradually. Results typically appear over several months as new collagen is produced. The progressive nature of treatment allows for natural-looking improvements.

No, Sculptra is not classified as a traditional dermal filler. Instead, it is a biostimulator that encourages your body to rebuild collagen, improving skin firmness and restoring volume gradually.

At IVI Medical Clinic, Sculptra treatments are performed by qualified medical professionals who customise each plan according to your unique needs. We prioritise safety, natural-looking results, and compliance with Ministry of Health (MOH) regulations in Singapore.
